Planting Seeds of Change
Roots4Change’s 1 to 1,000 fundraiser is all about spreading the word and growing our impact, person by person. It’s simple to get involved, and you have two ways to contribute:
Create Your Own Network
Start your own network and share your passion for R4C’s work with your friends, family, and colleagues in your social circles.
- Invite others to join: Encourage people within your network to donate.
- Watch your impact grow: Anyone in your network can then create their own network, expanding our reach even further!
Donate to an Existing Network
You can easily support R4C by donating to one of the networks already established by someone you know. Each network acts like a “constellation of stars,” with every donation helping to plant seeds of change in workplaces, communities, churches, businesses, and neighborhoods.
Rooted in Community
At R4C, we strongly believe in the power of people coming together.
Driven by a shared dream more than 10 years ago, seven Latina/Indigenous women came together to foster spaces of healing and self-discovery to explore the cultural, social, and biological nuances of being a woman and becoming a mother. Inspired by our own Latina heritage, we took the most direct path to change: becoming community doulas and nurturing our community from within.
Our work has become resilient, as many odds are piled against our embodied realities. Our strength is found every time we witness the power of hope, creativity, and self-advocacy.
Since 2020, R4C has invested in the wellbeing of thousands of families, by providing scholarships for more than 425 women to access services during their perinatal journey, from prenatal yoga, lactation support, and mental health, with more than 250 women receiving cultural-centered care from our community-based doulas. Farm to Families Program is a signature and collective effort with REAP Food Group to deliver bags of fresh and locally sourced food to families homes on a weekly basis. As part of our mission, R4C has served as an incubator for new community-based doulas, and has intentionally worked in the curation and expansion of new narratives about the immigrant Latina/e/Indigenous experience via the creation of spaces for storytelling and participatory research.
Now, R4C is planting another dream: igniting the power of community through Networks of Change. Networks of Change will allow us to build a web of support to enhance the role of Latina community-based doulas who support other Latina women, babies, and their families all across Wisconsin.
